Description:
The North Central Consortium School is currently accepting applications for a Special Education Teacher. NCCS is a consortium of 25 member school districts, serving as an alternative setting for students in grades K-12, and is a part of the Manson Northwest Webster Community School District. The North Central Consortium School assists students who would benefit from an alternative setting that provides additional support for their social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. We provide a high staff to student ratio and small class sizes in order to best meet the individual needs of our students.
Job Summary:
To facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district and state approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment at school; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position
- Demonstrate competence in planning and preparing for instruction
- Use strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students
- Use effective classroom management strategies
- Develop individualized educational plans based on individual student's progress, discrepancy and need and in compliance with State and Federal Guidelines.
- Fulfills all the responsibilities of the IEP: Timely and Current Progress Monitoring, Uses Progress Monitoring to Guide Instruction
- Work collaboratively with other professionals and engage in professional growth
- Work with special education students with academic, behavioral, and social/emotional needs.
- Analyze curriculum and intervention assessment data to inform instruction in the areas of reading, math, writing and behavior.
- Set appropriate instructional goals, monitor, and evaluate student progress; be responsive to the changing needs of students.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on students and activities as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Provide individual and small group research-based instruction designed to meet the needs of students based on data that promotes academic, social and emotional growth.
- Co-Teach in academic areas as needed.
- Must have a solid knowledge base regarding various de-escalation strategies.
- Establish and maintain ongoing communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
- Must understand laws and regulations with Special Education.
- Handles information in a confidential manner in accordance with established policies and legal requirements (FERPA, HIPAA, etc.).
Certification Requirements: Will accept any of the following
- K-12 Instructional Strategist II (BD/LD)
- K-12 Instructional Strategist II (ID)
- K-8 Instructional Strategist I (Mild/Moderate)
- 5-12 Instructional Strategist I (Mild/Moderate)
