Description:

The North Central Consortium School is currently accepting applications for a full time Student Support Staff. NCCS is a consortium of 25 member school districts, serving as an alternative setting for students in grades K-12, and is part of the Manson Northwest Webster Community School District. The North Central Consortium School assists students who would benefit from an alternative setting that provides additional support for their social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. We provide a high staff to student ratio and small class sizes in order to best meet the individual needs of our students.

Job Summary:

Assist students and staff in times of student crisis, and be available to respond to support student needs. Ability to listen, provide guidance, and apply a restorative approach to the correction of behavioral concerns.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Must have good communication skills, be flexible, and patient.
  • Have an understanding of a Trauma Informed Care approach
  • Knowledgeable of PBIS and the MTSS framework
  • Encourage positive behavior and reinforce expectations for students
  • Build relationships with students.
  • Be available and responsive to student and staff members requests
  • Mediation with students
  • Supervises Chillville, Student Support Center, and the Success Center
  • Assists in classroom de-escalation
  • Supports students during moments of crisis
  • Provide small group/individual social/emotional skill building.
  • Must have a knowledge base regarding de-escalating strategies, conflict resolution, and a variety of discipline strategies. Assist with de-escalating crisis situations.
  • Model and coach the use of evidence based behavioral/social/emotional practices for school personnel
  • Collaborates with building and AEA staff to problem solve, develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive behavioral objectives, goals, and plans, including a Behavior Support Plan and/or a Behavior Intervention Plan.

Qualifications:

  • AA in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Education, or Human Services, OR a minimum of 5 years experience working with students with challenging behavior or social emotional needs.
