Lauridsen Group Inc. Production Supervisor - Essentia in Harlan, Iowa
To supervise and coordinate all operator duties ensuring the production of a quality product processing in accordance with mandated sanitary regulations, current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP) and established company procedures.
Coordinate production area workflow which includes all tasks and appropriate documentation of the following:
Receiving / Unloading
Dumping / Grinding / Processing
Cooking / Drying
Packaging / Finishing
Warehousing / Storage / Distribution
Promote and ensure employees adhere to all established company policies and procedures including safety training, all mandated sanitary policies and regulations. Conduct and provide additional training for production personnel as needed.
Ensure fundamental food safety and quality practices maintained to achieve food safety and quality objectives and to support the development, implementation and maintenance and ongoing improvements of food safety programs.
Offer plant management input for hiring production personnel and assist with work performance evaluations.
Participate in and conduct regularly scheduled departmental meetings to enhance communication throughout the plant and across all shifts.
Assist in the discipline of production operators according to company policies and procedures.
Troubleshoot production process including:
Assist maintenance / utility personnel with repairs on equipment, machinery breakdowns or notify appropriate personnel to coordinate outside report services.
Ensure flow of production, redirecting production employees to areas of the process needing immediate attention or support.
Generate and direct work orders to maintenance personnel for equipment and machinery repairs.
Operate company vehicle as required and forklifts and pallet jacks as needed.
Maintain a clean production area for safe working conditions.
Specific knowledge of industrial production processes, in an edible or non-edible food processing plant.
Responsible to assure the products manufactured are safe and meet the customer’s quality standards.
Must be able to distinguish if food safety violations or product quality issues occur and resolve immediately or, if unable to resolve immediately, contact appropriate plant management (i.e. the Plant Manager and/or the QC Manager).
Ensure responsibilities and tasks are accounted for in Warehouse/Shipping, and Production Operations in the event of absences.
If both the Plant Manager and Plant Superintendent are absent, the Production Supervisor assumes the responsibility.
If the Production Supervisor is absent, the Production Lead or Plant Superintendent would assume the Supervisor’s responsibilities.

High School Diploma or G.E.D. certification required. College degree in production or management preferred.
Five years stable work history in areas such as agriculture, production, or manufacturing preferred. Supervisory experience or three years of experience within a food processing plant as an operator or equipment maintenance provider preferred.
