World Class Industries Inc Learning & Development Specialist in Hiawatha, Iowa

Mission:

The core mission of the Learning & Development Specialist is to create a positive environment that supports learning by cultivating and developing learning strategies that focus on the growth and development of our people and our business. This person works with various stakeholders to identify and implement key learning strategies to support business and personal needs and goals. Key responsibilities include designing and facilitating training that supports the company’s culture and partnering with other departments to design and deliver learning for skill development and industry and position knowledge.

Essential Functions:

  • Designs new and enhances existing training programs to encompass all levels of the organization for company culture, industry, and position knowledge

  • Researches, implements, and evaluates learning and development best practices to enhance learner experience, memory retention, behavior change and business results

  • Facilitates training programs to ensure the development of skills and knowledge and reinforces learning through coaching, communication, and follow-up with participants

  • Assists and supports development of existing employees and leaders and onboarding programs for new employees

  • Leads projects of various degrees of complexity to design learning solutions to meet business needs

  • Assists with the development and implementation of a sustainability plan for skill, competency, and position knowledge

  • Evaluates business impact and return on investment of training, learning and development offerings and programs

  • Works with leaders to understand how learning can improve the results of the business and individuals by effectively translating business strategies into learning and development strategies and works with departments to prioritize learning requests

  • Manages deliverables while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality; clearly defines and documents learning/project plans

  • Supports employee feedback survey and other feedback processes to link to learning and development strategy development

  • Coordinates, tracks and prepares training grants

  • Takes responsibility for the administration of our Learning Management System to include: helping internal users, ensuring materials are accurate, working with vendors to maintain records and structure and providing reports

  • Coordinates the scheduling of training and supports individual and team learning and development plans

  • Performs other relevant duties and/or special assignments as required

Education:

  • College degree required

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in training, learning and development

  • Knowledge of and experience with learning approaches, curriculum design and adult learning principles

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in developing curriculum and facilitating training both in-person and online

  • Instructional design experience for in-person and online training

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral), while effectively maintaining an objective approach to situations and people

  • Strong computer skills including experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams

  • Facilitation skills required

  • Ability to travel occasionally

  • Reaching: extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

  • Standing : maintaining an upright position.

  • Lifting : raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.

  • Pushing/Pulling : using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward/using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

  • Climbing : stairs, stools, ramps, ladders.

  • Walking : moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.

  • Bending : bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist and/or bending leg; bending legs at knee to come to rest or kneel.
