Research involves: 1) effects of microRNAs in cardiac myopathies and neurological disease, 2) mapping of tissue-specific microRNA binding sites, 3) discovering novel cardiovascular-disease related genes, 4) developing new therapeutics for cardiovascular and neurological disease, 5) myocardial metabolism, mitochondrial function and insulin-glucose signal transduction.Research in the laboratory includes the use of mouse models, cell culture systems, large genetic and proteomic dataset bioinformatics, genetic engineering, and human tissues. Applicants should have strong research backgrounds in genetics, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, as well as an excellent publication record. Selected candidate is expected to work independently while interacting in a collaborative environment.At this time, we are specifically seeking a candidate who will bring broad expertise in mitochondrial biology and techniques, including isolation and fractionation, substrate- and complex-specific functional readouts, and morphological assessments.
