To work with learners in one-on-one and/or in small group settings as they practice performing a patient interview, explaining medical information in common language, and to improve their "bedside manner". To work with students as they practice performing physical exams, and to allow students to perform physical exam maneuvers on the SP. SPs will receive training and must master specific skill sets. Must learn scripted case scenarios specific to courses and medical topics: portray the scenario accurately, realistically, and consistently with students; observe student's speech and behaviors; and accurately rate students' performance on rating form specific to the activity. Sessions with the students are video-recorded and will be utilized for educational purposes only. Must be willing to allow medical students to perform non-invasive physical exams (listening to heart and lungs, palpating your abdomen, etc.)* Must maintain confidentiality of all case materials and interactions with students. Reliability, punctuality and good interpersonal skills essential. *COVID-19 Update: Due to current public safety restrictions - many 2020-2021 programs involving SPs have been redesigned to occur virtually via Zoom. Basic computer skills (e.g. typing a short paragraph, clicking buttons on an electronic checklist), a valid email address, and internet access is required of applicants. Temporary, part-time position with sporadic hours as needed. Rate of pay depends on the role and whether you are training, portraying a case or passively being examined in a physical exam session or ultrasound session. Pay rates vary and range from $11 per hour to $20 per hour for most roles. No acting experience is necessary. No medical experience is necessary. Most programs occur on weekday afternoons, but some sessions run in the morning and the afternoon. Some sessions run later than 5:00pm.
