As the Assistant Controller at WesleyLife, you'll play a pivotal role in our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all accounting processes. You will:

  • Lead monthly financial closings, oversee cash disbursements, and manage tax liabilities.

  • Serve as the financial reporting system expert, providing training and support to new staff.

  • Develop and refine methodologies for cost and revenue accounting.

  • Strengthen internal controls and ensure accuracy in asset and grant reporting.

  • Recommend and implement new accounting policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate with external and state auditors as needed.

  • Oversee general accounting functions, ensuring GAAP compliance and timely financial reporting.

  • Provide financial analysis and strategic advice to organizational leaders.

  • Lead, train, and develop the accounting team to ensure high performance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve and implement new processes.

  • Assist in annual audit processes and integrate data reporting across service lines.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  • Experience: At least ten years in financial accounting and planning leadership, with a preference for non-profit and/or healthcare settings.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP accounting; familiarity with non-profit tax filings preferred.

  • Skills:

  • Proven success in developing and implementing finance, accounting, and reporting processes.

  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement regulations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with financial reporting systems like Cognos or Lawson.

  • Excellent communication skills for teamwork, presentations, and conveying complex financial information.

  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to drive operational improvements and influence others.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Effective collaboration with external partners, vendors, bankers, and auditors.

  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and implement best practices across multiple locations.
