Heartland Area Education Agency School Social Worker in Johnston, Iowa

Description:

Heartland AEA has a full-time School Social Worker position available for the 2024-25 school year, based in the Adel AEA regional office, serving students in the Dallas Center Grimes Community School District in the buildings of Heritage Elementary, Dallas Center Elementary, Dallas Center Grimes Middle School, and Dallas Center Grimes High School. This position will have a 192-day contract and will provide services for the identification, evaluation and educational programming of children. Candidates should be able to provide services that assist parents and professionals in meeting the educational and social/emotional/behavioral and mental health needs of children and youth. The position will include Child Find responsibilities within a RtI model. Candidates must possess a strong ability to communicate with parents, school staff and community partners and be able to involve them using the problem solving approach. A strong background in writing FBAs and BIPs, and the ability to develop a collaborative relationship with the LEA and AEA are also required skills.

Qualifications:

Candidates will need to have excellent teamwork, collaboration, communication and organizational skills. Candidates must be appropriately licensed/certified by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (or have the ability to obtain a license) and possess a master's degree in social work at the minimum.
