Position Summary
Teach American Red Cross swim lessons.
Qualifications, Certifications and Experience:

Experience
Must be at least 16 years old
American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR-PR preferred
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor preferred
Performance Criteria
Professional
Teaching swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities.
Assisting more experienced swimmers to enhance their swimming abilities.
Assessing the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly.
Monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries.
Implementing ground rules for each swim session.
Planning swimming lessons that take into account students’ abilities and progressive development.
Identifying incorrect swimming techniques and correcting students accordingly.
Keeping work area clean and prepared for class.
Attend all assigned meetings and in-services
Perform other such duties and function as are necessary or incidental to the proper performance of this position

Demonstrate ability to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations.
General
Work location will be assigned as needed.
Work days/hours may vary depending upon program needs.
Primary location is Johnston Community School District facilities and program-specific.
Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or higher-level leadership.
Performance evaluation conducted by direct supervisor.
