Corteva Agriscience has an exciting job opportunity for a Research Associate based in Johnston, Iowa.

The Systems Specialist will serve as a key member of 'Research Operations Systems Specialist' (ROSS) team in the Farm Solutions & Digital group in Corteva Research organization. The Systems Specialist is part of the ROSS Support team that provides hands-on support, troubleshooting and implementation of IT solutions for our research partners who use proprietary research information management systems and point solutions to assist in their research activities.

Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be asked to participate on multiple teams responsible for the support, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide laboratory information solutions. These activities will be accomplished by understanding research lab processes and familiarity of research software solutions.

Duties include:

  • Affinity for troubleshooting issues including: diagnosis, isolation, research and resolution

  • Analyzing information and consulting with clients to promote user self-sufficiency, effectiveness, and productivity in biological research through the use of information technology applications.

  • Assist our support team with Document management of self help and support knowledge-based articles using Confluence.

  • Routinely tracks all information regarding a research support request and its resolution within Jira

  • Monitor T0 pipeline support queue in Jira and will resolve Tier 1 issues and work with team members to triage support needs and/or escalate to appropriate Development teams

  • Engages on technical issues with software developers and other team members to meet objectives

  • Ensuring research clients are using information systems to their strategic advantage by consulting with and/or training clients to use the applications to meet their business needs

  • Identifying needs not being met by current supported software and researching new software to meet needs and solve operational problems

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications Desired:

  • Bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science or related field with demonstrated experience providing support OR bachelor's degree in agronomic sciences, molecular biology, genetics or related scientific field with demonstrated experience using information management tools.

  • Minimum of 2-4 years' experience working in above disciplines required. Additional knowledge of agribusiness or biotechnology preferred. Experience with SQL and database reporting a plus.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in scientific work processes used in Corteva Research

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, consulting and coaching skills. Ability to work independently towards resolving problems

  • Demonstrated effort as a team member willing to accept responsibilities and complete team assignments

  • Working knowledge of personal computer software, Microsoft Office, software development process, and ability to extract and summarize large amounts of data from relational databases

  • Must have strong customer focus with desire and patience to help others

  • Demonstrated skill in forming partnerships with multidisciplinary groups and managing multiple deadlines

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex, technical information in a clear and concise manner

  • Ability to quickly learn how to use new computer software and possess an understanding of testing and troubleshooting of computer software problems.
