Director of Regulatory Compliance

job summary:

The Director of Regulatory Compliance helps develop, implement, and oversee the quality assurance and regulatory compliance strategies of the company. This position also will evaluate current and new compliance regulations, reviewing company processes and ensuring regulations are being met. The Director of Regulatory Compliance initiates development of standard operating procedures related to production in compliance to federal and state laws as well as FDA regulation. This position also must identify training and educational needs regarding compliance and manufacturing practices and make recommendations based on those needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement company policies and regulations.

  • Oversee all business operations relating to compliance including policies, investments, and procedures.

  • Design and monitor control systems to deal with violations of legal rules and internal policies.

  • Regularly assess processes and work flow for regulatory compliance and recommend improvements.

  • Review and evaluate company procedures and reports to identify hidden risks or common issues.

  • Coordinate with different department managers to review all departmental compliance policies.

  • Assist with periodic audits on company procedures and processes.

  • Lead employee training sessions on legal and compliance issues.

  • Ensure compliance on all OTC labels regarding legal language and potential efficacy claims.

  • Work with the Senior Director of Quality Assurance to audit and validate 3rd party laboratories.

  • Routinely reports to senior management regulatory trends and identifies opportunities based upon these trends

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or work equivalent in related field.

  • Experience with OTC (Over the Counter) Drug compliance, ideally with regards to analgesic products.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with computers and MS Word.

  • strong knowledge of industry processes and regulations.

  • Analytical mindset with excellent organization.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Prop 65 and how this effects consumer goods.
