    Job Description

Location: Marshalltown Resident Construction Engineer Office

Shift Requirements: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, flexible schedules available.

As an Engineering Office Assistant 2, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs Contract Final Process and Office Audits for completed projects.

  • Prepares all final paperwork for Office and District audits.

  • Train field staff to maintain proper project documentation.

  • Reviews records submitted by inspection staff.

  • Review of documentation for completeness and review for errors or omissions.

  • Operate Field Manager & AASHTOWare Programs, Office Suite, Doc Express, Iowa DOT Electronic Records Library and MAPLE.

  • Assist with office needs as required.

  • Assists with contract administration duties in the office.

  • Provides input on office policies/procedures.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • All of the following (a and b):

  • Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalency; and

  • A total of five years of full-time experience in highway design, maintenance, construction, or materials; or administrative support in inventory management, training programs, administrative recordkeeping or closely related areas.

  • A total of five years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.

  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time work as an Engineering Office Assistant 1 or three years of full-time work experience in highway design, maintenance, construction, or materials.
