Job Description

The Iowa Veterans Home is looking to fill a Human Resource position in Payroll. Applicants must have experience in administrative support work related to Human Resources.

Duties includes:

• Processing daily timekeeping records for employees, including daily entry of benefit time used, missing punches, holiday pay/comp time designations, standby and callback.

• Setup and maintain schedules for employees in UKG and Workday to ensure accurate time recording.

• Monitor sick leave and vacation balances to ensure that employees do not exceed benefit time available resulting in LWOP.

• Manages Catastrophic leave program.

• Prepares employment and salary verifications for credit agencies as requested.

• Provides assistance to supervisor’s in preparing for unemployment hearings by gathering information such as corrective actions and evaluations from personnel files.

• Assist employees with retirements and IPERS paperwork.

• Collecting and entering termination information in Workday.

This position requires excellent customer service and communication along with the ability to create and manage google docs and forms. Must be self-motivated and organized.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • Two years of full-time work experience performing administrative support work.

  • A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where 30 semester hours of accredited post-high school course work equals one year of full-time experience.

  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to one year of full-time administrative support work in a human resources-related program area.
