Description:

Position Purpose:

This individual is primarily responsible for the performance of ECGs, Cardiology Management System (MUSE) duties, Signal Average ECGs, Holter Monitor set-ups/scanning, and various clerical duties.

What you will Do :

  • Performs and processes 12-lead ECGs and Signal Average ECGs utilizing ECG equipment and the cardiology management system. This includes editing, report distribution and charging in the electronic medical record.

  • Performs patient hook-up and disconnection of Holter monitoring and performs Holter monitor scanning (after completion of training and skills competency). Performs scanning of Holter monitors. Performs set up of extended ECG monitoring and event monitoring.

  • Utilizes the Medical Center’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to document care and perform appropriate charges.

  • Performs clerical duties which include; monthly ECG log reports, and CV&P filing system. Transports patients to and from CV&P for diagnostic services following temporary SBAR standard work. Receives and records telephone requests for service. Informs patient of procedure to be performed and facilitates consent.

  • Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPPA regulations.

Hours/Schedule:

Varying start time 6am, 6:30am, and 7: 30am. Three days-8 hour shifts. Weekend and holiday rotation. Position currently works every fourth weekend and holiday

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of basic medical terminology and reading skills.

  • Within one year of employment in the CV&P department the associate will be independently competent in Holter scanning.

  • Neat and well groomed.

  • Ability to interact with people in a calm and effective manner while performing different tasks throughout the day.

  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

  • Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.

  • Completes Cardiac Dysrhythmias and Management class or equivalent within 3 months of hire, and annual skill validation for Cardiac Dysrhythmias
