This position will reside in Mason City, Iowa.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Combination of business lines (Cement – Mason City, Iowa, and Aggregates – Central Illinois)

  • HR Service and support for these geographical areas – travel required

  • Effectively coordinate with Region and Corporate HR departments, plant managers, and plant management team

  • Maintain harmonious relationships and close cooperation between management and bargaining unit employees as well as Federal, State, and Municipal Agencies.

  • Guide policies including interpretation and discipline.

  • Administers and assists active salaried, hourly, and all retirees with fringe benefit plans; Facilitates the processing of accident & sickness benefits.

  • Directs employment activities, assuring that properly qualified employees are recruited and hired for plant and staff positions.

  • Develop, implement and actively train personnel in various programs.

  • Assure that company employment, personnel, and equal opportunity practices comply with applicable provisions of federal and state labor laws.

  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Company guidelines, performing training, monitoring compliance, etc. Partner with the Safety Manager to proactively manage the health & safety of employees to continuously improve the company's health & safety performance.

  • Responsible for the effective operation of the Performance Management System to ensure proper performance and utilization of employee skills and development.

  • Guide supervisors and employees on programs originating from individual work situations.

  • Maintains Employee data and processes related reports.

  • Administer and assure compliance with AAP

  • Provides a variety of human resource services to the plant including recruitment and placement, employee relations, talent partner and regulatory compliance qualifications.

  • Must complete all assigned work in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (i.e., MSHA, OHSA, DOT, DOL, etc.), including safety programs administered at a State or Local level where allowed by the Department of Labor. Must maintain awareness of surroundings at all times and perform their work safely and productively. In the event of a workplace incident, immediate notification to a supervisor and/or manager is required.

Who we are looking for:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Must work well with people. Customer Service-minded – service and support to employees and management team

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field strongly preferred Minimum of 3+ years HR experience

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing setting is strongly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and recruiting/staffing

  • Knowledge of Labor Relations/Collective bargaining required

  • MSHA knowledge preferred Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Solid computer skills including MS Office products

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively

  • Training experience preferred

  • Must be willing to travel between plants as needed
