Heartland Asphalt Plant Foreman/Lead in MASON CITY, Iowa

TITLE: PLANT FOREMANJOB PURPOSEProvide leadership to see that the Plant achieves their mission and production cost goals. Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt plant. Assure that plant complies with DNR, OSHA (or MSHA) Regulations, landlord rules and company rules. Monitor daily inventory levels for current and future ACC mix requirements.RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Responsibilities, including, but not limited to the following:Safety - Safety inspections daily.- Enforce safety in work place.- Lead by example.- Make sure clean water and restrooms are made available.- Conduct and document effective weekly safety meetings.- Monitor the weather and take precautions.- Safe and efficient traffic flow.- Truck route. (At times, this may be delegated to the Plant Operator)- Emergency route and procedures.- Emergency contacts and locations.- Safety of plant visitors.- Proper PPE for each task.- Confined Space policy adherence. Personnel- Supervise all plant employees, and company drivers based out of plant.- Train and develop employees.- Communicate with employees.- Enforce company policies.- Approve daily time and keep hours reasonable.- Monitor unusual employee behavior and notify office.Paperwork (complete, accurate, timely, signed) - Personal journal for EPA and DNR review. - Timecards for plant personnel. - Weekly Equipment time. - Plant daily reports.- Lock Out / Tag Out- Confined Space- Weekly safety meeting.Efficient Plant CostsFeed Dry Material and Keep Mix Temperature ConstantQuality Hot Mix and Cold Mix - Timely visual inspections2. Interaction. - Must professionally represent the Company with customers, inspectors, news media and local public. - Must be able to interact with various estimators, project managers, project superintendent, foreman, crew members, plants, hired trucks, suppliers, subcontractors and others associated with various projects.3. Supervision. - The position of Plant Foreman answers to the General Manager. Minimal supervision is expected. - Communication with General Manager on weekly basis or as needed in order to optimize efficiency of company assets.4.
