Heartland Asphalt Plant Loader/Utility in MASON CITY, Iowa

TITLE: LOADER OPERATOR REPORTS TO: PLANT FOREMANJOB PURPOSE:Help the Asphalt Plant achieve their mission and production cost goals, and help the company and employees achieve their profit goals. Operate loader to maintain stockpiles and keep bins full. Assist with plant start-up, shut down and maintenance. Assist in receiving material and supply deliveries. Be MSHA trained to work at Wash Plant, strip mining, etc. when needed.JOB DUTIES:As directed by Supervisor, operate company loader or other equipment to complete daily job assignments in accordance with established operating procedures.Daily inspection of the equipment in accordance with set guidelines to assure equipment can be safely operated.Keep equipment clean and maintained.Complete required forms daily, or as required, and submit completed forms to supervisor as needed.To assist in other labor or truck work related areas as assigned.Attends safety meetings as required.Cooperates with supervisor/co-workers to achieve work assignments.Drive defensively, courteously and cautiously at all times, following established safety guidelines.Establish eye contact with all pedestrians that enter the work areas.Stay in loading zone and avoid driving equipment into open traffic lanes.Watch traffic and pedestrian to make sure they are outside of the loading zone.Watch for co-workers and clear working path.Watch for overhead lines and other hazards.Interact with customers and the public in a courteous, helpful manner at all times.Reports customer/public problem situations immediately to their supervisor.Keep Bins full with correct material.Maintain stockpiles and minimize waste.Keep an eye on plant operation and maintenance.Keep plant operator and foreman informed of changing conditions.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Ability and skill to meet operating standards for loader and other equipment by maneuvering loader or equipment in/out of a variety of locations.Ability/skill to perform operating duties for extended periods of time in a variety of weather conditions and maintain quality and productivity.Ability and knowledge related to daily maintenance of assigned piece of equipment, such as fuel, oil, water, and other equipment parts.Knowledge, skill and ability to follow supervisors instructions in an accurate manner, and in accordance with established procedures.Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with customers, public and co-workers.Ability to be available for work daily and overtime as required; including week-end work.Ability to assist in laborer or other work related areas as required.Ability to understand and observe safety rules/regulations, including preventive safety measures.Ability to be alert to potential hazards in the work area.Knowledge and ability to read and comprehend gauges on equipment in anticipation of maintenance or breakdown.To take initiative in regards to what needs to be done next (looking ahead) and remain productive throughout the work day.Ability/skill and responsibility to maintain control over traffic in a professional and safe manner.Have respect for other peoples property, treat it as your own or better.
