Heartland Asphalt Plant Operator in MASON CITY, Iowa

TITLE: PLANT OPERATOR REPORTS TO: PLANT FOREMANJOB PURPOSE:Stationed at the plant controls, operating the plant producing the specified hot mix or cold mix asphalt mixtures. Near the telephone and radio to coordinate material deliveries and coordinate and dispatch trucks. Assist in plant maintenance. JOB DUTIES:Operate the ACC plant in a safe and efficient manner.Load trucks and print load out tickets in a timely manner.Verify commercial customers credit status before loading.Keep track of scale tickets and production reports and email them into the office.Daily plant records.Sign Hired trucks inRESPONSIBILITIES:1. Responsibilities, including, but not limited to the following:Safety- Enforce safety in work place.- Wear PPE required for each task.- Required attendance at weekly safety meetings.- Monitor the weather and notify company personnel to take precautions.- Be aware of emergency route and procedures.- Be aware of emergency contacts and locations.- Be aware of safety for plant visitors.- Comply with company policies.- Monitor unusual employee behavior and notify plant foreman.2. Interaction.- Must professionally represent the Company with customers, inspectors, and local public. - Must be able to interact with various estimators, project managers, project superintendent, foreman, crew members, plants, hired trucks, suppliers, subcontractors and others associated with various projects.- Knowledge and ability to perceive preventative safety, production capabilities, environmental, quality issues and notify plan foreman immediately. 3. Supervision. - The position of Plant Operator answers to the Plant Foreman. Minimal supervision is expected. - Communication with Plant Foreman on daily basis or as needed in order to optimize efficiency of company assets, production capabilities and quality of material produced. 4. Compensation and Requirements.Hourly position with yearly reviews.401k and profit sharing.Single Medical and Dental coverage paid.60 hours per week average and some weekends required.Travel is mostly in North Central Iowa area and limited overnight stays required.PART III - JOB RELATED CRITERIA:1. Ability to be available for work daily and overtime as required; including week-end work.Ability to assist in laborer or other work related areas as required. Ability to understand and observe safety rules/regulations, including preventive safety measures.Ability to be alert to potential hazards in the work area.Knowledge and ability to read and comprehend gauges on equipment in anticipation of maintenance or breakdown.To take initiative in regards to what needs to be done next (looking ahead) and remain productive throughout the work day.Ability/skill and responsibility to maintain control over traffic in a professional and safe manner. No debris or garbage.Lookout man for potential hazards such as: Overhead electrical lines, etc.Pinch points of all kinds (equipment and vehicle to vehicle situation).
