POSITION SUMMARY

As Maintenance Electrician with Safco Products, you will be responsible for mechanical and electrical installation, repair, and maintenance. You will be a key driver in maintaining the health of the facility by diagnosing and resolving maintenance issues to minimize downtime along with educating the team on establishing long term solutions on specific maintenance and electrical issues.

In addition, you will assist the Maintenance team with daily and preventative maintenance tasks when needed to include but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic.

This full-time position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is located at our Milford, IA manufacturing facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine maintenance, including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production equipment and machinery. Electrical work to include; running conduit, sizing and pulling wire, designing and building circuits
  • Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on electrical systems and equipment to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
  • Diagnose electrical problems using testing devices and troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric and volt meters as well as material handling equipment while in performance of duties.
  • Repair or replace defective electrical components, such as wiring, switches, circuit breakers, and motors, to restore functionality and minimize downtime.
  • Install new electrical systems, equipment, and components according to specifications and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members and operations departments to coordinate repairs, installations, and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and inventory of spare parts and supplies.
  • Support building and grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment for all employees.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Valid electrician's license or certification in the State of Iowa.
  • Experience, 4 years minimum, as a maintenance electrician or similar role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting with proven ability to troubleshoot PLC's and CNC equipment.
  • A solid understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and repair electrical problems efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Experience working with a formalized preventative maintenance program and software system preferred.
  • Willingness to get certification for truck and material handling operations sponsored by Safco
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Sense of urgency, attention to quality, and a positive attitude.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or vocational training in electrical maintenance is preferred.
  • Experience in a wood / metal manufacturing plant a plus
