JOB SUMMARY:

A Physical Education (PE) teacher at Missouri Valley High School plays a critical role in promoting physical fitness, health, and well-being among students. This position emphasizes strength and conditioning to enhance student athletes' performance

, reduce the risk of injury, and optimize their overall physical fitness, while developing physical fitness for life-long health in our non-athletes. The PE position designs, coordinates and monitors a summer strength and conditioning program for the Missouri Valley CSD Athletic Department.

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Plan, develop, and implement physical education/strength and conditioning curriculum in alignment with state standards and school district guidelines.

  2. Create lesson plans that incorporate a variety of physical activities and sports to engage students of all fitness levels.

  3. Teach students about the benefits of physical activity, healthy lifestyle choices, and personal fitness.

  4. Design and implement evidence-based strength and conditioning programs tailored to the needs of athletes, considering factors such as age, skill level, sport requirements, and injury history.

  5. Lead structured training sessions to instruct athletes on proper exercise techniques, lifting mechanics, and injury prevention strategies.

  6. Continuously monitor athletes' progress, adjust training protocols as needed, and evaluate the effectiveness of the strength and conditioning programs.

  7. Assess student progress through observation, performance metrics, and formal evaluations.

  8. Provide feedback to students on their physical abilities and progress.

  9. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.

  10. Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.

  11. Manage student behavior effectively to ensure a positive and productive class atmosphere.

  12. Supervise students during physical activities to prevent injuries and accidents.

  13. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and school events.
