Green Hills AEA Physical Therapist (2025-2026) in Missouri Valley, Iowa

Green Hills Area Education Agency is looking to fill a Physical Therapist position.

Qualifications:

Current licensure, according to the Iowa State Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners to practice Physical Therapy.

Issuance of a Statement of Professional Recognition by the Iowa Department of Education authorizing practice in the educational setting.

General Summary: This position must understand and practice within the model of educationally based on Physical Therapy. Develop interventions to improve self care, school, work, motor, play and leisure skills of learners birth to age 21. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, through various methods, with students, teachers, colleagues, administrators, support personnel, parents, and outside agencies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a problem solving approach to meet learner needs. Provide training/inservices as needed to teachers, parents, and others regarding occupational performance in home, school, and community.

    Regular communication with supervisor. Utilize technology on a daily basis (ie: Google docs, Google drive, zoom, etc).

    Work cooperatively with outside agencies to gather information on learner needs and how they may impact participation in the educational setting.

    Determine a learner's present level of function through record review, interview, observation in various settings, and formal evaluation procedures.

    Collaborate with teams to determine the level of Physical Therapy service or support in order to meet learners needs.

    Use data driven decision making to evaluate learner progress.

    Provision of Early Access services, including service to children and families, participation in teaming, cross training, professional development and the coaching model.

    Meet all Special Education requirements, including appropriate and timely documentation according to PT licensure, IDEA requirements including IEP, IFSP logs and Medicaid billing.

    Actively participate in OT/PT Professional Learning Team meetings, IEP/IFSP process and teaming according to IDEA guidelines .

    Participate in the clinical supervision of Physical Therapy students.

    Recommend the purchase of and assume responsibility for the inventory of the appropriate equipment and supplies needed for the program.

    Complete other duties, projects and tasks as deemed appropriate and assigned by supervisor or administrators.

    Physical Requirements:Regular attendance is required.

    Ability to travel to serve itinerant caseload. Occasional (0-33% of work day - 1-32 lifts/day) lifting of 50 lbs or 25% of body weight. Walking/Carrying at 3.5 mph with 0-25 lbs. or slower with > 25lbs. Typical energy required: 3.5 - 6.3 METS Medium physical demand level
