EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The job of Custodian is for the purpose of providing housekeeping and maintenance to indoor and outdoor facilities at a standard that will insure a safe, attractive, efficient and clean environment for the students of the Mt. Pleasant Community School District.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • General cleaning, such as sweeping, cleaning of carpets and blinds, emptying of waste receptacles, cleaning toilet facilities and filling of dispensers
  • Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs
  • Keep walks and entries clear of ice and snow
  • Help with receiving and storing supplies
  • Move and arrange furniture for school functions
  • Carry out additional requests of building principal and Director of Building and Grounds
  • Other duties may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES DESIRED:

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of modern cleaning methods, the use and care of materials, tools, and equipment
  • Ability to perform minor building repairs
  • Ability to plan, organize and carry out work schedules efficiently
  • Responsible attitude towards job and fellow workers
  • Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis
  • Effective oral and written communications
  • Ability to work independently
  • Aptitude for detail
  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions
  • Capable of representing the school District in a professional manner, which includes

but is not limited to confidentiality, communications skills, and ability to present a professional personal image

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Letter of assignment - hourly. Work year as established by the Board of Directors.
  • Salary and benefits are to be determined by the board.

EVALUATION:

The Custodian will be evaluated by the administrator of the building that the work placement is assigned, at least annually in accordance with law, board policy, and the preceding job description.
