EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The TAP Coordinator is responsible for providing services and supports that foster student growth and development in the areas of secondary transition for living, learning and working.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
Support students in achieving secondary transition goals and objectives as written in individualized education (IEP) plans.
Aid students in accessing and maintaining employment by providing on the job interventions and support, coaching, positive reinforcement, and by developing natural support systems.
- Assist students in the areas of resume preparation, on the job training, and short-term job coaching provided as needed.
- Motivate and assist students in building self-esteem and self-discipline, and to develop interpersonal skills, to think independently, and to learn actively.
- Work collaboratively with roster teachers, classroom teachers, building and district administrators, IVRS counselors, and parents/guardians to implement student
educational/employment plans, including ongoing data collection.
- Consistently involve and communicate with related stakeholders in decision-makingdecision making processes, and pending changes in services.
- Act in accordance with district/board procedures and policies, federal and state regulations relating to area of responsibility.
- Conduct self in a professional manner in dealing with other employees and the public.
- Ensure fiscal and material accountability with all equipment and supplies.
- Submit required records, complete, concise, and on time.
- Follow up on supervisor's recommendations and provide evidence of completion of recommendations.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities which promote role and/or district goals.
- Conduct oneself as a collaborative team member along with other district employees.
- Maintain a positive relationship with administrators, education staff, students, parents, and community members/groups.
- Follow district guidelines for safety.
- Maintain confidentiality with student information and student records.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Experience working with secondary students
- Experience working with students with disabilities
- Capable of effectively training and supervising high school students in off-campus job-sites
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to collaborate with peers
- Ability to communicate accurately and professionally
- Ability to engage with and advocate for youth representing a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to work with data (collect, interpret and disaggregate)
- Must have excellent written and spoken communication skills
Qualifications/Education:
- 4 year degree required
- Must have valid Iowa Driver's License and a driving record satisfactory to the district and the district insurance carrier
- Knowledge of Mount Pleasant community resources a plus
