HORMEL FOODS SALES, LLC Burke - Quality Assurance Relief Technician (2nd shift) in NEVADA, Iowa

Starting Pay: $18.00 - $19.50/hr based on experienceHours: 6:00pm- 4:00am There is a need for thisposition to have availability for 2nd shift flexible hours, and occasionally alternate shift.This position supports the implementation and maintenance of Quality and Food Safety programs on a flexible hour basis.This position is responsible for performing certain duties as a trained back-up to QA Lead Technicians, QA Technicians and the QA Clerk as needed. This position reviews various food safety and quality documentation to determine compliance to the programs. These programs include, but are not limited to: Product Holds, Formulation Verification, Label Verification, Foreign Material Prevention, production SOP's, SSOP's, and HACCP, and may include various data entry duties. The technician must use judgment in the interpretation and intent of Program requirements to make product disposition decisions if a check being reviewed is found to be unacceptable.RESPONSIBILITIES:* Food Safety Responsibilities: Monitors the Food Safety programs relating to the processing operations. Coordinates the Environmental Pathogen Monitoring sampling program. Performs sampling of food and non-food contact sites. Oversees corrective actions as needed. Coordinates the Pre-Operational and Mid-day sampling program and secures weekly and daily samples to confirm the sanitary condition of production equipment and the environment. Monitors and verifies the product thermal process. This knowledge is expected to be used to take initiative and interpret requirements to guide production management decision-making when events involving food safety and quality occur. Decisions may involve events including, but not limited to, thermal process deviations, foreign material incidents, product labeling, formulation errors, etc. Incumbent must be able to learn and maintain in depth technical knowledge regarding product traceability in electronic A/S400 inventory system. Additionally, incumbent places appropriate product on a non-ship hold, and performs follow-up and verification steps necessary to remove product from non-ship hold, where applicable. These activities involve communication via detailed e-mails to applicable hourly and salaried team members. (50%)* Food Quality Responsibilities: This position monitors food quality attributes during production runs. Can verify quality records. Implements Process Quality Control programs as follows: audits process control checks (product temps, piece size, etc.). Monitors documentation of the label verification program and the product formulation program. (20%)* Auditing and other Communication Responsibilities: Assists the QA Tech in performing daily GMP audits in production areas, correcting and training employees as appropriate. This involves auditing and correcting team member personal safety violations as well, which may include independently resolving deficiencies to correct them real time. Trained to verify and preship HACCP records Performs in-process and final reviews of documentation generated to support food safety and quality programs. A very high level of attention to detail is required for the documentation reviews. Performs a section of routine internal process and facility audit and documents findings. (20%)* Helps to maintain, coordinate, and provide continuous improvement to the Process and Quality Control Program.* Works with USDA, outside consultants and auditors as needed.* Will be required to work with and develop equipment and ideas deemed to be confidential information and/or trade secrets owned by the company.
