Position Purpose:

Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a RN and or LPN in the ER setting. Performs general nursing assistant duties and able to work with the age specific populations according to the age and setting.

Registers patients in the Emergency Department and Registration area, enters charges and completes hospital-required paperwork. Assists in Medical-Surgical and SDS/Operating Room area as needed and training completed.

What you will Do:

  • Provides competent patient care to the above-indicated patient populations by obtaining and utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills in appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments within the ER Tech scope of practice.

  • Registers patient that presents to the ER for services and all admission to the hospital following registration policies and procedures.

  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to co-workers and to multidisciplinary caregivers.

  • Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team in the provision of patient care to achieve desired patient care outcomes

  • Enters charges according to billing policies and procedures (EKG, CRNA charges, etc)

  • Enters Bed Board data Documents patient information in the electronic/paper medical record in an accurate, timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED required.

  • Successful completion of a Nurse Aide Course Required. -

  • Certification preferred.

  • State of Iowa nurses aide registry listing as “Active” or eligible preferred.
