University of Iowa Community Credit Union Card and Deposit Operations Director in North Liberty, Iowa

Position Summary

The Card and Deposit Operations Director position is responsible for ensuring all regulatory, legal and compliance requirements are in place for all deposit and card related products as well as lead or participate in several department or cross-department projects and initiatives. This position will work with the SVP/Payment, Card and Deposit Services, and the entire CADS team to ensure sound operations and oversight as well as increase department productivity and effectiveness through active monitoring of accuracy, consistency of process, and continuous process improvement.

Pay range for this salary position is $119,078.70- $159,375.58/yr with a progressive benefit package. This position does offer hybrid capabilities with preferred location being IA & IL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change:

  • Ensures confidentiality of member information.

  • Partners with legal and compliance team to ensure ongoing knowledge of compliance and regulations, and applicability within the CADS department.

  • Actively involved in audit findings and providing support in resolution to compliance issues.

  • Responsible for leading departmental projects and initiatives as well as monitoring, tracking, and ensuring following-through/measurement of success.

  • Partners with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, defines product specifications, and prioritizes feature/functionality development.

  • Responsible for buildout and monitoring of all first line of defense activities for the CADS department.

  • Identifies trends, report findings, and implements improvements.

  • Assists SVP/Card, Deposit and Payment Services with management of MIP monitoring to ensure procedures are followed correctly.

  • Works closely with Marketing and SVP/Payment, Card and Deposit Services with recommendations and updates for mailings, promotions, and/or projects.

  • Maintains Knowledge Base and training oversite. Responsible for ensuring deposit and card materials are up to date, working closely with the CADS team for content.

  • Reviews and updates Card and Deposit Services matrix related to deposit, card and IRA related areas.

  • Manages all aspects of unclaimed property compliance for Deposit Services, including the identification and reporting of unclaimed property in accordance with state regulations and laws.

  • Upholds overall team cohesiveness within department. Provides leadership and mentoring to the CADS team.

  • Proactively collaborates with the Retail team and all end users to ensure seamless employee and member experience.

  • Coordinates, develops, and maintains ongoing relationships across all departments and effectively communicates upcoming changes to procedures to all related departments in the credit union.

  • Fosters strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure successful execution of product initiatives.

  • Develops and leverages a network of other contacts at other banks and credit unions.

  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with vendors.

  • Stays up to date on relevant industry developments and best practices, and shares information appropriately.

  • Cross-trained and able to perform any and all job duties within the Card and Deposit Services team as needed.

Job Requirements/Expectations

  • High school diploma or the equivalent (i.e. GED) is required. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.

  • Six years of experience in a financial organization.

  • Previous experience demonstrating a depth of knowledge in all and/or part of the areas of focus is preferred.

  • Performs work under minimal supervision.

  • Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.

  • Demonstrates critical thinking to identify efficiencies or new approaches for current operating procedures.

  • Ability to research, understand, and relate complex concepts and information from various legal and regulatory sources and to apply those concepts to credit union policies and procedures.

  • Prior experience managing projects and/or leading department changes.

  • Prior leadership experience including people management and/or leadership in an individual contributor role.

  • Good oral and interpersonal skills, telephone and email etiquette, and the ability to produce clear and effective written communication.

  • Proficiency with related computer applications, spreadsheets, word processors, and database applications.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills, attention to detail, project management, and time management skills required to manage and complete multiple assignments and handle large volumes of details in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability and willingness to work additional hours as demanded by the workload and the credit union's rapidly changing environment.

  • Has a passion for exceeding expectations through accuracy, efficiency, and continual professional development.

  • Positive attitude, team first focus, an emphasis on providing outstanding employee and member service, and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
