University of Iowa Community Credit Union Human Resource/Benefits Administrator in North Liberty, Iowa

Position Summary

The Human Resource/Benefits Specialist works closely with the Executive Vice President/Human Resources in the development, coordination, and execution of Benefit Programs within GreenState Credit Union. This includes, but is not limited to, a wide variety of human resource functions such as: compliance, benefits administration, training, and researching.

Salary range for this position is $90,593.36 - $121,250.74 with a progressive benefit package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed, and are subject to change.

  • Adheres to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards in carrying out GreenState's mission and vision.

  • Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times.

  • Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.

  • Ensures confidentiality of member information.

  • Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or credit union sponsored events, on an annual basis.

  • Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Compliance

  • Ensures compliance with all State and Federal legal regulations concerning employment and benefits. Responsible for the proper, accurate and timely completion of regulatory reporting associated with required regulations.

  • Acts as HIPAA Privacy Official and responsible for overall compliance of HIPAA Privacy Rules.

  • Recommends policies and procedures to Executive VP/HR to ensure that GreenState operates within the legal framework of government legislation.

Benefits

  • Leads in the administration and implementation of human resources benefits programs.

  • Identifies, recommends, develops and implements programs and processes supporting business objectives and organizational culture.

  • Researches and works with third party vendors to develop new benefit programs and/or human resource processes. Functions as a liaison between vendors and the organization.

  • Advises employees on eligibility, coverage and other benefits matters.

  • Maintains confidential personnel records.

    Coaching and Training

  • Engages in positive partnership and staffing relations by providing coaching, training and guidance on GreenState policies and procedures, best practices, compliance, etc.

  • Develops and /or delivers benefits training to new and existing staff, as needed.

  • Assists in the coordination of staff meetings, training topics and special events.

Researching

  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals, as needed. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department.

  • Researches and works with third party vendors to develop new benefit programs.

  • Coordinates and oversees overall maintenance and revisions to the employee handbook.

Job Requirements/Expectations

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or related field; or equivalent coursework.

  • Minimum three years of Human Resource experience in a generalist role with extensive experience in benefits administration

  • Knowledge of state and federal benefit and employment laws, regulations and statues.

  • Ability, availability and willingness to work additional hours as demanded by the work load.

  • Proficiency in a wide variety of personal computer software programs, including the Microsoft Office application suite, Microsoft Publisher, clipart and graphics software, and desktop publishing programs.

  • A strong working knowledge of local area network directories, protocol and general maintenance procedures.

  • High scanning accuracy with extreme attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical skills with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize large, detailed project requirements and schedules.

  • Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a time sensitive environment.

  • Self directed nature, ability to work independent of supervision, and ability to follow directions.

  • Ability to work well with others in a demanding work schedule.

  • Ability to research, develop and create new programs.

  • Maturity and discretion to handle confidential information.

  • Must be bondable.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Executive. Vice President/Human Resources.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
