Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Norwalk, Iowa is a southern suburb in the Des Moines, Iowa metropolitan area. We are known for knowing our neighbors and enjoying a great quality of life! Our location produces high quality precooked egg patties as well as various French Toast products. Responsibilities SUMMARY: This position performs process and production maintenance throughout the facility. Multi craft Maintenance responsibilities includes but not be limited to equipment breakdowns, installation and startups, process improvements, preventative/precision maintenance programs and continuous improvements activities i.e. increasing machine reliability and installation of facility capital investments. Candidates must be a self-starter willing to accept maintenance process responsibility and KPI results. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Promote, and foster Michael Foods culture, values and principles Must observe and practice all Department/Plant Procedures including wearing the required PPE Adherence to plant safety, food Safety, sanitation standards, and following all GMP guidelines. To improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency through work execution and through timely response to emergency and urgent production needs. Utilize CMMS to support the maintenance function including review, execution and documentation of scheduled/unscheduled work on a daily basis. Experience in the installation and repair of mechanical equipment required. Diagnose and repair of all machinery and process malfunctions, must be fluent in mechanical troubleshooting. Diagnose and repair of all mechanical power transmission equipment. Knowledge of gear boxes, mechanical drives, variable speed applications, and Servo motors. Diagnose and repair refrigeration, steam and pneumatic systems. Knowledge of cylinders, valves, manifolds, vacuum systems, air filtration and lubrication devices. Diagnose, repair and overhaul pumps, automatic control valves, sensors, positioners, actuators, basic electrical AC/DC troubleshooting, and related systems. Proficient in knowledge of bearings, pulleys, chain drives, belt drives, and lubricants standards and applications. Experienced use of precision tools i.e. dials indicators, micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges. Read and decipher mechanical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams. Ability to read/interpret Electrical Schematics is a plus. Skilled in pipe fitting, rigging, and use of mechanical tools, hand tools, and power tools. Skilled in machine shop to fabricate within specific tolerance is a plus. 480v 3 phase knowledge required. Knowledge and practice of NFPA 70E preferred. Experience and knowledge of personal/process control computers, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and Networking devices a plus. Allen Bradley experiences is a plus Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED: EDUCATION: AA in Engineering, Operations or Applicable technical knowledge or Degree/Certification from Trade School. Certifications in Ammonia Refrigeration or Boiler Systems is a plus EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in industrial operations, Plant operations, maintenance, utilities and/or related field. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Good oral/written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in both one-on-one and small group situations. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic Algebra. Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distances. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to participate analytical, planning, problem-solving, and small project management skills. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Specific skills and abilities required that are not included in other sections: Competent in using CMMS System (Preferably SAP). Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) preferred Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to be flexible to shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment. Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a “get-it-done, can-do” attitude, a self-starter. Assist in developing troubleshooting programs and job aids. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with all team peers and customers. Maintain accurate records and data. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to endure daily excessive walking, standing, crouching, lifting (excess of 60lbs), twisting, climbing, reaching.
