Okoboji Winter Project, Inc. Kitchen Helper in Okoboji, Iowa

Okoboji Winter Project, Inc. is looking to fill Kitchen Helpers positions in Johnson and near by counties. This is a temporary, full-time seasonal position and we are looking to fill 5 job openings for employment from April 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025.

Duties: Kitchen Helpers will be responsible for the safe, accurate, and speedy preparation and cooking of food served to our customers: inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe, sanitary food-handling practices; prepare kitchen utensils and cooking equipment by ensuring they are washed and functioning properly; weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment; preparing food such as vegetables, fruits, meats, and cheeses by cutting and portioning them for the expected activity level for the day. Perform general cleaning activities in kitchen and dining areas: the workers will help with cleaning, dishwashing, and food running if necessary. Help with cleaning food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables.

Terms and Conditions of Employment:

Work will occur up to 6 days per week (when the restaurant is open 7 days/week). The schedule may be from 7am to 4pm or from 4pm to midnight depending on if the employee is scheduled to work the day shift or night shift. $13.45 per hour. Overtime is available as needed. Overtime rate of pay is $20.18 per hour. Basic Wage Rates above $13.45 will require past experience at Okoboji Winter Project, Inc. and more responsibilities.

All deductions from the workers paycheck will be made as required by law. The employer will use a single work week as its standard for computing wages and pay weekly by check.

The employer will provide housing as an option to employees living outside the regular commuting distance. Employees who elect to live in the housing will have an additional $50 deducted per weekly paycheck for the rent and utilities. However, if the employee completely fulfills their contract dates and if they are in good standing then the employee will get the full rent refunded back to them before they leave.

Transportation: From the place from which the worker has come to work, whether in the U.S. or abroad, to the place of employment, if the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will provide advance payment for transportation and subsistence (including meals and, to the extent necessary lodging) from the place of recruitment to the place of work.

Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $15.88/day during travel to a maximum of $59.00/day day with receipts.

Three-fourths guarantee: The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.

Tools, equipment and supplies: The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.

Miscellaneous: The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages and pay by-weekly by check. The employer will make all payroll deductions required by law. The employer will reimburse an H-2B worker in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker. The employer will provide housing as an option to employees living outside the regular commuting distance.
