West Monona Community Sch Dist 7th and 8th Grade Boys Wrestling Coach in Onawa, Iowa

West Monona High School - JH Wrestling Coach for the 2024-25 season.

Summary

The JH Wrestling Coach will work under the supervision of the West Monona High Athletics Director. The Coach must realize and appreciate the need to be a leader of the West Monona Athletics Department and be highly visible in the Onawa Community promoting the sport of wrestling.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Manages and supervises games and practice sessions that promotes safe techniques, individual growth, teamwork, discipline, respect and superior sportsmanship.
  • Helps develop and foster youth wrestling in the Onawa Community.
  • Collaborates with the high school wrestling program to create a strong, unified 7-12 wrestling program.
  • Holds organizational meetings with wrestling staff and students as needed to effectively communicate the vision of West Monona High School wrestling. Works with other members of the teaching staff to hold student-athletes accountable academically while monitoring their citizenship in the building and publicly.
  • Monitors and enforces code of conduct and eligibility expectations at all times.
  • Educates and monitors student-athletes in preventing them from engaging in hazing or bullying type behavior.
  • Supervises locker rooms regularly during the season.
  • Works with the Athletic Director to secure, clean, properly store and inventory all equipment that is used in the wrestling program.
  • Assists the Athletic Director with the scheduling of meets.
  • Communicate with players and parents on a regular basis your expectations of the program.
  • Aligns with the strength and conditioning staff for year round strength and speed development, while also respecting in-season sports.
  • Instills a competitive spirit at all levels while coaching West Monona High School wrestling positively and having/modeling fun while doing it.

Qualifications:

Valid Iowa Coaching endorsement

Annual concussion certification required

Annual completion of Mand
