Mitchell County Regional Health PRN EMT 1237 in Osage, Iowa

per hour | Osage, IA, USA | Hourly | EMS | PRN, as needed

Shifts: 12 hour shifts (Rotating through Monday-Sunday and holidays), Call may be required. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department. The determinatino of the daily and weekly work schedules shall be made by the PHO.

JOB SUMMARY The EMT role responds to emergency and non-emergency requests, providing Basic Life Support (BLS) as needed, and transports sick or injured persons to the appropriate medical facility. The EMT may work with a Paramedic or other EMS personnel. The EMT complies with appropriate state of Iowa Department of Public Health Standards and regulations. The EMT adheres to MCEMS/MCRHC values and operates as an extension of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSA. Be prepared to respond rapidly and safely to emergency in response area.B. Represent MCEMS/MCRHC by being courteous, professional, and a patient advocate.C. May operate and drive an ambulance with regard to state and company safety policies if over 21 years of age.D. Monitor communication equipment to maintain contact with Communications Center.E. Comply with all protocols for treatment and transportation of the sick and injured as defined by the Company, local, and regional Medical Control.F. Maintain a clean, professional appearance while maintaining a courteous, professional, and ethical behavior while working cooperatively with other members of the health care system, co-workers, and the public.G. Perform other duties as assigned including those specific to the local operation.H. Regular attendance consistent with scheduled hours and willing to work overtime as needed.I. Uses care and respect with all equipment and supplies.J. Ability to accurately map to a designationK. Be proficient with computer and reporting softwareL. Performs other duties as requested by the Director of Emergency Medical Services and/or Administration.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS1. Maintain and replenish vehicle, equipment and supplies as needed.2. Attends departmental/PHO in services and meetings as required or requested.3. Practice within your certification skill set.4. Provide general medical care and treatment to patients in both emergent and non-emergent settings as defined by state and local regulatory agencies.5. Neatly and accurately document pertinent patient information on all required forms/documents. (Patient Care Records, Supplies, Medicare Signature Forms, and PCS forms)6. Turns in appropriate documents (EPCR) prior to leaving duty.7. Maintain a safe and healthy workplace in accordance with all appropriate OSHA standards, company policies and local standard operating procedures.8. Complies with and enforces all policies and procedures.9. Successfully completed all required EVOC Training within the required time period.10. Supports and abides by all PHO departmental and safety policies and procedures.11. Acts in professional manner reflecting the mission, philosophy and values of Mitchell County Regional Health Center and Mercy Health Network.12. Demonstrates Guiding Behavior Expectations in all interactions with all parties.13. Assists in CQI activities and process improvements.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONSA. Education: 1. Current state EMT certification as required by the state of this posting.2. Current BLS certification card 3. Preference for NREMT certification4. BLS Instructor preferred.B. Experience1. Previous healthcare or Ambulance experience preferred. C. Special Skills & AptitudesA. If over 21 years of age; current state Driver's License in good standing and insurable B. If over 21 years of age; satisfactory driving record in accordance with the MCEMS Driving Policy.C. Excellent communication and customer service skills.D. Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care.E. Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence. F. Ensure that all required Certifications are current and remain current.G. Attend all MCEMS required OSHA training, annual training, and all mandatory Company updates.H. Complete the training in the allotted time the Company sets.I. Maintain knowledge about job and medical field.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTSA. Able to squat lift and transfer over 100 lb. with assistance.B.
