QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred

  • Current Iowa Certificate with appropriate endorsement required

  • Successful teaching experience preferred

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in administering required language proficiency and academic achievement tests for determining placement for students in grades PreK and up, along with ongoing monitoring of student progress.

  • Provide and collaborate with classroom teachers to effective, developmentally appropriate and differentiated language instruction for diverse learners.

  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including whoe group (co-teaching)/small-group or individual learning. Provide effective, developmentally appropriate and differentiated language instruction for diverse learners.

  • Plan, evaluate and revise curricula, course content, course materials and methods of instruction in line with the Iowa Core, and district curriculum.

  • Engage and communicate with parents and families in their student’s learning and acting as an ambassador for the school in the community.

  • Follow professional practives consisten with school policies in working with students, studnets’ records, parents and colleagues.

  • Participate in in-service and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.

  • Attend and participate in established traditional school-sponsored activities (i.e., back-to school night, open house, and other activities customarily attended by classroom teachers and/or faculty members), which may be outside of regular school hours.

  • Promote student engagement in order to inspire and encourage progress while supporting and strengthening the learning capabilities of each student.

  • Supervise students’ work, evaluate and grade student performance, assignments and progress in language acquisition.

  • Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.

  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

  • Maintain accurate, complete and appropriate records and files.

  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

  • Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when requested to do so under reasonable terms.

  • Provide adequate information, plans and material for substitute teachers.

  • Have reqular and reliable attendance.

  • Act as an advisor to student organizations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain emotional control under stress

  • Capable of standing for long periods of time while instructing

  • Able to work with interruptions during a work shift

  • Must provide certification of good health prior to employment

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be determined in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between CCEA and CCSD.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between CCEA and CCSD.
