High School Science Teacher

Clarke Community School District has an opening for a High School Science Teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Chemistry or related science field.

  • Valid State of Iowa teaching license for Chemistry Grades 5-12 required

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach Chemistry, Forensic Science, Origins of Science, and, as needed, AP Chemistry to high school students in grades 10, 11, and/or 12.

  • Create a classroom environment and maintains a standard of classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

  • Plan and implement a written program of study in accordance with established district curriculum goals and studies, that as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interest and ability of the students.

  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.

  • Evaluate the accomplishments of students, maintains accurate, complete and correct records in accordance with established building grading procedures.

  • Seek the assistant of district and/or AEA specialists as needed by students.

  • Take an active interest in the school and community.

  • Strive to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives as stated in the handbooks.

  • Assist with implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

  • Keep informed of modern educational thought and practices predominately through online courses.

  • Travel requests, if any, to educational conferences or other school systems for educational purposes must be requested and, if approved, limited to a few days per year.

  • Attend staff meetings and serves of staff committees as required.

  • Assume other such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent and/or building principal.

  • Keep appropriately trained as per Board policy in the areas of CPR and First Aid.

  • Have lesson plans in general outline format as needed a substitute teacher.

SALARY RANGE/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary range: $47,500 to $52,153/year. Salary and work year to be determined in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between CCEA and CCSD.
