Job Summary
As a member of the Emergency Department and Ambulance Department, this role contributes professional knowledge and skills in the provision and management of emergency care to patients and their families. This position provides comprehensive, compassionate, quality care to patients on site and in transit to designated medical treatment facilities. This position routinely works with a partner to provide the appropriate level of care within the hospital under the direction of a nurse or physician. Duties include performing EKGs, assisting staff with patients in ER, transporting patients, checking ambulance and department supplies. Must be a self-motivated team player, able to work under stressful situations, and exercise good judgment.
Shifts: 36 hours per pay period maybe days or nights. Rotating Shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.
Education:
Graduate from an accredited school of EMS.
Current paramedic or EMT certification required
Experience:
1 year of EMS experience preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Certification in good standing from the Iowa Department of Public Health, EMS bureau.
BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
ACLS and PALS certification within 1 year of employment.
Valid driver?s license, with Chauffer D.
EVOC or equivalent within 1 year of employment
Mandatory Reporting within 6 months of hire.
ACLS and PALS recertification preferred.
EVOC preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Use of customary equipment used to perform basic functions of the position, including monitors, telehealth equipment etc.
Adaptability with influx or outflow of patients, being able to triage patients according to level of injury, illness with the most critical patient taking precedence when multiple
Must be able to read, write and comprehend and speak fluent English
Customer/patient focused
Critical thinking skills, using independent judgment in making decisions
