Indian Hills Community College Automotive Lab Assistant in Ottumwa, Iowa

Job Summary:

Assist Automotive Instructors creating a safe lab environment conducive to student learning. Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with the ordering of repair parts and supplies. Schedule work for the “live lab” and input repair orders in the shop management software daily.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required with post-secondary training preferred.

  • Minimum of three years work experience in the field.

  • Must relate well with people creating a student-centered learning environment.

  • Computer skills using shop management software and Microsoft 365.

Work Performed:

  • Provide student-centered student supervision in the lab environment for safety, instruction, and support to the instructor.

  • Provide instructors with feedback on students’ lab performance.

  • Support students in completing laboratory projects.

  • Maintain lab presence in the absence of the instructor.

  • Meet the standards of the college’s Quality Faculty Plan.

  • Utilize WIN and Outlook for college communications.

  • Help keep an accurate inventory of all equipment and supplies.

  • Create and maintain work order documents.

  • Assist in ordering repair and replacement parts for lab projects and supplies.

  • Help maintain cleanliness of lab spaces and surrounding areas.

  • Prepare lab demonstrations and projects based on instructors’ guidelines.

  • Repair classroom or lab equipment as needed.

  • Verify program inventory per Business Office guided process.

  • Initiate work order requests for campus maintenance personnel.

  • Oversee all repair order (RO) and “live lab” progress utilizing the shop management software.

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.

  • Other duties assigned.

4 Term, Full Time, Benefits

Schedule:

9 hrs/day, Monday thru Thursday

Hourly Rate:

$18.67 - 22.73
