POSITION TITLE: Health Associate

REPORTS TO: School Nurse

The Health Associate will be under the direct supervision of the R.N./School Nurse. Supports and assists the R.N./School Nurse with routine student care, medication administration, health procedures, administration of first aid and documentation of those cares and duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma

  • Completion of Bloodborne Pathogen Training

  • Completion of Medication Administration in Iowa School course

  • CPR Certification

  • Completion of First Aid Class

  • Completion of Mandatory Child/Dependent Adult Abuse Training

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with providing care to students with illness, performs minor first aid care, assists with health maintenance/screenings, discuss chief health concerns with R.N./School Nurse.

  • Communicates with the R.N./School Nurse, building administrators, teachers and secretarial staff regarding student health concerns.

  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Performs clerical duties as required, such as recording standardized information on cumulative health records, filing, assists RN/School Nurse with telephone communications.

  • Assists with lifting, repositioning, toileting needs and feeding of special need students, when necessary and other duties as required

  • Maintains neatness and cleanliness of nurse office, stocks and updates supplies.

  • Maintains current information and knowledge of school district policies and procedures.

  • Participates in educational or in-service programs to increase working knowledge.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
