Job Summary

The Plant Services Student – Maintenance position is responsible for performing tasks ranging from maintaining the yards and grounds of the company, supporting and assisting with construction projects (electrical and other) or other maintenance support functions. Areas of focus could be yards and grounds, construction, electrical, fleet maintenance or environmental health and safety (EHS) support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.

  2. Conduct seasonal maintenance tasks including lawn care services.

  3. Provide set-up and preparation services for maintenance projects and/or meetings in the Pavilion and other locations as needed.

  4. Patrol Vermeer grounds for the removal of litter and other debris.

  5. Support various department needs as identified, including other Vermeer properties to support the overall maintenance effort.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Must be 18 years of age

    • High School diploma

    Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to operate riding lawn mowers, utility tractors with attachments, fork trucks, man lifts, end loaders, garden tillers, weed eaters, pickup trucks with trailers, belt grinders, hand drills, electric saws, and floor scrubbers.

  • Ability to carry out all yard maintenance in a timely manner.

    • Ability to effectively manage time and resources.

    • Ability to take all safety precautions when operating equipment.

    • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Work Location
