Work Shift

1 - First Shift

The Senior Project Engineer - Manufacturing drives strategic manufacturing projects that support the company’s overall success. This role ensures projects are completed within budget, scope, time, and to the highest level of quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Lead by exhibiting the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors. Supervise, organize, mentor and coach assigned team members in performance of their duties while influencing others to carry the Vermeer culture forward. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s strategies and objectives to drive key business results. Use expertise to ensure department is serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations.

  2. Ensure all project needs are being met to achieve goals in the original set time frame. This includes, but is not limited to, securing additional resources, setting daily or weekly priorities for project team members, communicating to all involved parties, and working with the more challenging situations or people.

  3. Facilitate planning sessions, support plan development, and provide planning expertise to set out appropriate approach to each project. Collaborate with and lead cross functional teams that support overall project development and implementation.

  4. Align project delivery with strategic objectives, manage changes in priority and adjust project schedules as needed.

  5. Track and manage project resources which includes resource allocation and capacity planning and balance.

    Education and/or Experience

  • 4-year college degree with a major in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Management.

  • Minimum 10 years’ manufacturing engineering experience.

  • Knowledge of Automation Engineering and/or Robotics Engineering preferred but NOT required.

  • Program/project management experience required: must demonstrate leadership, team work, collaboration, creativity, and innovation.

    Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lead and balance multiple projects concurrently.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach and coach key skills including, but not limited to: project management, Root Cause Analysis techniques, Manufacturing Guidelines and Standards, Process Control, etc.

  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations.

  • Working knowledge and demonstrated application of Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of Vermeer Operations Value Streams which include Work Order creation, Machine shop, Welding, Paint, Assembly, and Quality processes.

  • Ability to lead and function in a team environment, while effectively communicating across various levels of the organization.

  • Ability to travel in support of project implementation and job function (segments, customers, suppliers, etc.).

  • Has a passion for project management, driving results and excellence in execution.

    Travel

Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.

Work Location

ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
