1 - First Shift

The IT Technical Support Manager manages the lifecycle and support of all computer hardware and software. This position purchases all computer equipment and desktop software and is responsible for asset and software inventory. This role manages a team responsible to keep computer systems and desktop applications current while providing excellent service to users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Lead by exhibiting the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors. Supervise, organize, mentor and coach assigned team members in performance of their duties while influencing others to carry the Vermeer culture forward. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s strategies and objectives to drive key business results. Use expertise to ensure department is serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations.

  2. Evaluate new end user device technology, operating systems and applications to improve business operations and efficiency. Review existing products to develop and submit recommendations for improvements.

    1. Develop standards and procedures for the cost-effective selection, acquisition, deployment and support of end user computing, i.e. hardware, software, configuration, and communication technology; maintain software compliance.

    2. Ensure that end user computing technology has sufficient capacity and performance at an affordable cost for end users domestically and abroad, including multiple buildings, remote sites, travelers, and work-at-home users.

    3. Create and analyze measurements to track customer satisfaction, system performance, system costs, transaction volume and frequency, and system capacity. Continually analyze information and implement improvements.

    Education and/or Experience

  • Four-year college degree in Computer Sciences.

  • Minimum 7 years of computer / software experience in a business environment; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

    Computer Skills

  • Knowledge in the area(s) of systems integration; strong understanding of end user device technologies; Windows, IOS, Android systems along with application interfaces.

    • Knowledge of networking protocols; knowledge of TCP/IP and networking; ability to lay out systems and applications logically to determine how they integrate.
  • Knowledge of data centers, campus network, servers, storage, virtual machines, remote site connectivity and knowledge of Vermeer business systems and other applications.

  • Strong knowledge of ITIL processes and ticketing systems.

    • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, architecture, application development and support, networks, and computer operations.

  • Ability to help identify root cause failure analysis and reliability evaluation.

  • Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.

  • Demonstration of excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence others .

  • Strong negotiation and/or purchasing skills; ability to operate within established budgetary guidelines in the purchase of computer equipment and desktop applications.


Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.

Work Location

HYBRID: Some of a team member’s day-to-day work may be best done at a location other than a Vermeer campus. Discuss specific arrangements with your manager.
