The Training Manager – Technical Skills plans, directs, and coordinates the training and development activities for team members in technical and skilled trade roles. This position develops and maintains a comprehensive training strategy that supports the overall organizational strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead through the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors. Manage assigned team members in performance of their duties. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s business strategies and objectives and ensure department is properly serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations.
Conduct in-depth training needs analysis for the technical and skilled trade roles, including but not limited to manufacturing, engineering and continuous improvement.
Partner with center of excellence leaders to develop and maintain a comprehensive training strategy for technical and skilled trade roles, to support current business requirements and long-term goals. Ensure alignment with short- and long-term company initiatives.
Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of existing technical and skilled trade training by utilizing assessment and evaluation tools linked to adult learning models.
Design, develop, implement and evaluate new technical and skilled trade training, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as instructor led training, blended learning, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences and workshops.
Facilitate classroom learning for technical and skilled trade training utilizing best practices in adult learning techniques.
Drive communication to appropriately respond to new initiatives, changes in processes and other significant topics as it pertains to training.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related area or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Minimum seven years working in a related technical field.
Experience with needs analysis and strategic thinking.
Experience with adult learning, including instructional design and facilitation preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to communicate well with individuals at all levels of the organization.
-Strong technical aptitude, including knowledge of production, values streams, engineering and other technical areas.
Knowledge of adult learning principles, facilitation techniques, training industry trends, needs assessments, organizational policies, and lean principles.
Ability to effectively manage projects, resources and time to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
Ability to listen and convey information effectively by giving full attention to others, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate.
Ability to develop creative, alternative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent facilitation skills in both small and large group settings.
Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel by car or place may be required.
