Summary

About the Position: Position is being filled at the GS-0802-06 level with target to the GS-0802-07 level or at the full performance GS-0802-07 level. Duties described below reflect the full performance GS-0802-07 level. Duties will be performed in a developmental capacity under close supervision. This position is located at the Mississippi River Project Office in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.

Responsibilities

Maintain office engineering phases of the detailed planning operations and maintenance accomplished through construction or service contracts, hired labor, or a combination of both and perform duties associated with contract administration.

Collect data and prepare sketches, or provide other design criteria to project personnel responsible with developing plans and specifications for major maintenance, supplies, materials, or services to be accomplished or provided by contractors.

Perform field engineering work to support the development of site plans to be used in the completion of maintenance and construction activities.

Specialized Experience at GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes completing a variety of standardized tests by preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, and/or recording instrumental readings for maintenance and construction activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: Completed at least a half year (9 semester hours) of graduate-level education leading to a master's or higher degree in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as engineering, construction, or industrial technology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 9. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Specialized Experience at GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing plans, specifications, and/or cost estimates in conformance with established procedures for new construction or major modification of maintenance and construction activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: Completed at least one full year of graduate-level education leading to a master's or higher degree in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as engineering, construction, or industrial technology.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
