SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Operate white lead stripper and vulcanizer.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/ SCOPE:

· Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader

· Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with the processes & equipment .

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Load and unload vulcanizer as needed

  2. Load and unload vulcanizer trains as needed

  3. Strip white lead off hose for reuse in white lead system

  4. Keep white lead grinders operating at full capacity

  5. Keep white lead extruder supplied with regrind white lead

  6. Send hose to Strip & Test for further disposition

  7. Identify and eliminate known defects

  8. Document good and non-conforming product

  9. Correctly fill out required paperwork daily

  10. Train new employees as needed

  11. Detect and report problem areas or unusual conditions to supervisor

  12. Always maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition

  13. Use personal safeguards for hands, feet and eyes as prescribed

  14. Perform related and other duties assigned by supervisor

    DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  15. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.

  16. Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.

  17. Maintain production schedules.

  18. Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.

  19. Other duties may be assigned later.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

  20. Required PPE:

    1.1. Safety glasses

    1.2. Hearing protection

    1.3. ANSI Z41 Safety Shoes

    1.4. Kevlar gloves

  21. Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, carrying, stooping, bending, reaching & lifting are done on a frequent basis. Climbing, lifting overhead, pushing, pulling & grasping are performed on an occasional basis.

  22. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.

  23. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.

    The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

    Experience:

    Production work preferred but not required

    Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  24. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  25. Basic knowledge and use of hand tools

  26. Sound decision making skills

  27. Good math, reading, writing skills

  28. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

  29. Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product

    Strong trouble shooting skills

    Skills/Competencies:

  30. Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office package

    1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

    Other Skills:

    Ability to work well in a team environment

    Assessment:

    Employee must pass Pre-employment screening
