MaintenanceJob Summary:

This position is accountable for providing technical/maintenance supervision support to mechanical maintenance and welding. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily maintenance work and long-term project work, and assuring safe, reliable, and efficient work. The supervisor will work in the plants Work Management Information System (WMIS) system to execute work performed by the maintenance technicians and welders. The maintenance supervisor will work with the maintenance planner to distribute prepared job packages, and scheduling work for the maintenance technicians and welders. Other tasks include, but are not limited to analyzing a technical problem, field checking, specifying applicable equipment, developing cost and scheduling estimates. The supervisor is responsible to ensure design safety by incorporating CF standards, government codes, and sound engineering design practices.

Key Job Elements:

  • Coordinates and ensures safe execution of all scheduled routine and/or outage mechanical maintenance work. Responsible to make sure work planned by the maintenance planner is executed in a professional manner, work is of the highest quality, and ensures all work repairs, etc. are documented for compliance purposes and audits. Reviews all field data for completeness, consults with engineering and operation supervision, and recommends corrective action or further repairs when needed. Ensures maintenance technicians and welders are trained in the maintenance of all systems around the site via a training/progression program involving manufacturers, vendors, and site-specific information.
  • Assists in development and ensures adherence to maintenance budgets.
  • Develops and maintains a working relationship with customers who compete for attention and maintenance resources by prioritizing activities appropriately.
  • Develops and maintains a network of contacts to provide the goods and services required during activities. Works with Procurement, Engineering and outside suppliers as required.
  • Maintains, and updates as necessary, a Preventative Maintenance program to ensure mechanical availability and regulatory compliance for all equipment. This will include creating and editing preventive maintenance (PM) documents and updating entity information in the CF asset management system as the need arises. Monitors PM completion efficiency and backlog and recommends actions to maintain completion compliance.
  • Helps develop the criteria for preventative maintenance frequencies in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Superintendent, Plant Engineers, and Planners. Ensures that spare parts are available or can be obtained in a prompt manner based on manufacturer's recommendations or personal experience, for all of the equipment in the affected area. When necessary, this inc udes identifying, ordering, and expediting the materials and rental equipment needed to complete work scopes.
  • Ensures that outside services can be provided as needed for any of the equipment activities. This includes coordinating with safety and security personnel to assure that outside contractors and vendors adhere to CF's procedures and provide a smooth transition when entering and exiting the plant site.
  • Works with Production, Engineering, and IandE department to coordinate maintenance activities in the field.
  • Responds to plant operations as necessary to troubleshoot and repair plant mechanical fixed and rotating equipment.
  • Ensures that the Management of Change (MOC) in maintenance procedures and operating procedures, that are a result of modifying current equipment or a new installation, are communicated with other departments.
  • Monitors new technology for ideas to reduce cost and improve plant on-stream time.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and recommends solutions as appropriate.
  • Maintains close communication with all levels of supervision.
  • Ensures that proper safety procedures are specified and executed on all planned jobs.
  • Oversees and holds technicians accountable for the "on call" rotation.
  • Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.
  • Supports site EHS activities through compliance with all environmental, health and safety policies/procedures, and through active participation in EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Supports the initiatives of continuous improvement through teamwork and the application of the quality planning and improvement principles.

Successful incumbents will have:

  1. 5 years' experience working as a Maintenance Technician/Millwright, Planner, or similar role.

  2. Previous supervision or industrial chemical setting experience preferred.
