Avera RN-Community Health/Employee Health in Sibley, Iowa

SUMMARY: The Public Health focus has emphasis related to health promotion, health policy development, disease prevention, community assessment and attention to health equity. The Employee Health focus provides nursing service, education and guidance for Osceola Regional Health Center employees on a pre-employment and as needed basis. Includes maintaining up to date employee records.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Education and knowledge of Public Health and Employee Health programming preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current licensure as an RN in the state of Iowa required.

  • BLS is required.

  • Iowa Mandatory Reporter training within six months of employment.

  • This position requires a valid driver’s license and must carry their own automobile liability insurance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible to provide the following public health services:

  2. Best Care for Better Babies (BCBB)

  3. Child Health

  4. Immunizations and communicable disease follow-up

  5. Foot Care Clinics

  6. Homemaker

  7. Emergency Planning and Preparedness

  8. Collaborate with community partners

  9. Coordinates the Employee Health Program which may include:

  10. Maintaining a comprehensive Employee Health program that includes elements such as the following: health history, post offer physical exams, immunization records, necessary titer records and other regulatory required testing

  11. Respiratory Protection Program

  12. Plan, organize, design documents and implement activates of the Employee Health program

  13. Maintain required records, reports and statistics related to Employee Health, OSHA logs

  14. Manages workers’ compensation cases in collaboration with Human Resources

  15. Acts as a liaison with physicians for provision of care for employees who become ill or injured while on duty

  16. Other miscellaneous duties

  17. Utilizes strong interpersonal skills.

  18. Communicates well with others.

  19. Maintains strict confidentiality of all information.

  20. Other duties as assigned.
