Interstates Safety Intern in Sioux Center, Iowa
Interstates is growing, and we are currently seeking an Safety Intern to join our Interstates Construction Team on our National Traveling Team. The Safety Intern will be responsible for assisting the Safety Managers. This individual will also help our customers achieve a successful and safe work zone, that meets all owner/regulatory requirements, as defined in the primary job duties section, below. Interstates seeks ambitious, innovative individuals with the ability to grow and maintain value-added relationships with our team and external customers.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in providing First Aid training and First Aid on site
Review pre-job assessments and audits, in addition to daily inspections of equipment
Help with accident and "near-miss" investigations, led by the superintendent and/or foreman
Conduct Root-Cause Analyses
Perform and help with daily safety observations
Attend foreman and team safety meetings
Conduct site audits to assess risk from hazards, otherwise not addressed
Assist crews in observing, communicating, and growing the Interstates Safety Culture
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- Must be currently working towards a degree in Occupational or Construction Safety, or some other related type of safety
Excellent verbal and written communication
Able to track information and conduct audits
Travel: This position will involve spending 80-90% of the time on construction sites at various locations throughout the United States.
