SUMMARY: This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining Occupational Health programs, policies and procedures for facility, supervising and evaluating nursing care provided to team members and ensuring adequate staffing is provided on each shift, and monitoring all Health Services Department (HSD) functions to ensure HSD staff adheres to correct nursing procedures. Other duties include attending facility management production meetings to provide occupational health related updates, ensuring annual renewal and obtaining physician signature for Clinical Condition Guidelines and Standing Medication Orders, conducting annual HSD performance evaluations, and interviewing and hiring qualified HSD staff. Other responsibilities include conducting new HSD staff orientation, conducting monthly in-service training for HSD staff, managing ergonomic health management program for the facility, manage workers’ compensation case management program and ensuring records and reporting systems comply with OSHA, State, company and legal requirements. Other duties include planning and maintaining department budget, participating in facility safety and ergonomic programs, developing and coordinating health education programs for team members and performing other duties as the need arises.

  • Facilitate the smooth day-to-day operations of the on-site health center through supervision and scheduling of the clinician staff, and management of the clinic.

  • Serve as a liaison with Triumph’s TPA, external care providers, and operations and HR staff in the management of workers compensation cases.

  • Oversee and administer protocols established by the medical director. Ensure care under the Standing Operating Procedures occurs.

  • Provide and coordinate direct nursing and physical therapy care for follow-up of occupational injuries and illnesses.

  • Coordinate and oversee monthly on site provider clinic.

  • Maintain appropriate records on cases to include chart notes associated with clinic visits and outcomes.

  • File first reports of injury with Triumph’s TPA.

  • Collaborate with other members of the on-site health team, to include wellness/prevention, safety, ergonomics, and EAP representatives to identify problems and propose solutions to maintain a safe and healthful work force and dependent population.

  • Utilize the principles of education to develop and deliver educational programs related to health promotion, and risk prevention, worker safety.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the regulations from OSHA and the state workers compensation boards and their impact of the workplace.

  • Demonstrate understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act to include application and evaluation of essential functions and the interactive process, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, HIPAA, and other pertinent anti-discrimination laws.

  • Deploy post-offer, pre-employment physical process for new hires.

  • Oversee the Hearing Conservation Program.

  • Deploy fit for duty evaluations in return to work and causation situations.

  • Establish and maintain appropriate supplies for the clinic.

  • Establish and maintain scorecard for clinic and required reporting to include OSHA Logs and a monthly dashboard which includes number of visits, general visit types, etc.

  • Establish and evaluate goals and priorities with the Vice President of Human Resources.

  • Establish and communicate health services activities to the Communications Manager on a regular basis (i.e. Annual Flu Shots, Flu Season Alerts, Produce Project, etc.)

  • Coordinate the professional development of health center personnel through orientation, assessing the needs for professional education and ongoing evaluation of the staff’s performance.

  • Ensure licensure of staff is up to date at all times.

  • Provide any other services required.

  • Coordinate and perform annual audit of clinic practices.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. RN degree preferred. Current State license as a Registered Nurse required.

  • Five (5) years experience in Adult Critical Care, Emergency Room or occupational nursing with a strong emphasis on case management for Work Comp cases.

  • Four (4) years experience in management or supervision.

  • Must demonstrate professional decision making and problem solving skills

  • Must speak fluent English

  • Strong leadership qualities

  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal)

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Experience with staff scheduling

  • Current CPR certification

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Prefer current CAOHC certification, and BLS/AED certificate. Current ACLS certification is preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, employees and Management personnel.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively communicate with USDA, production and management personnel. Bilingual skills a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. Demonstrated ability to understand basic statistics for process control.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available. SQF Certification preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel/hold objects, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; speak, hear, taste and smell. Employee may occasionally lift, push/pull up to forty (40) pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment will typically be an office type setting, but trips may be required through the entire facility which would include climate extremes.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and, while generally as shown below, may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.

Hours of Work: Generally 9 or more hours/day as scheduled by management.

Days of Work: Normally Monday-Friday as scheduled by management and weekends if needed by operations and approved by management.
