SUMMARY: The Clinician will provide medical assessment and treatment of occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses, return to work, post offer physicals and disability case management. The Clinician will perform hearing assessments and drug and alcohol screening as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES include the following:

  • Treat/Educate employees. Evaluate and assess employee complaints and determine appropriate medical care (work related and personal injury/illness).

  • Perform rounds through facility and areas of responsibility as needed (i.e.-plant walk through).

  • Communicate effectively with employees to determine complaints/needs and assist with training (i.e.-Blood Borne Pathogen, etc.).

  • Communicate effectively with Medical Case Management about Workers Compensation issues.

  • Interface between health professionals, employees, management personnel to facilitate communication.

  • Collaborate effectively with management to ensure action/follow up on specific issues.

  • Maintain employee records to facilitate timely and accurate completion of entries on OSHA 301 Log and Reports of Injury to ensure compliance.

  • Provides complete confidentiality of all medical data. Ensures professional standards of Occupational Health are met.

  • Initiate timely and accurate documentation of information for entry into employee medical files and filing thereof.

  • Perform hearing testing per protocol and maintain accurate records to assure OSHA compliance.

  • Perform drug and alcohol screening when indicated according to protocol. Accurate documentation to assure timely completion of testing.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: A minimum of (1) one year of directly related work experience in the field of occupational nursing or emergency healthcare is preferred. A current registration as an EMT, Paramedic, or LPN in the state of Missouri is required. A current BLS card is required.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Must possess the interpersonal and communication skills to provide effective participative leadership and to interact with all employees and management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is required to sit; stand; use hands to feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak; hear; and smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIORNMENT: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold/hot and/or humid conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold/hot temperature and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work environment includes climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management, and while generally as shown below, may be changed by management as required to provide adequate coverage of clinic at all times.

Hours of Work: Generally 9 or more hours per day as scheduled by management.

Days of Work: Usually Monday-Friday as scheduled by management and Saturdays when needed by operations.
