POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the general direction of the Foreman, the HVAC Service Technician is responsible for maintaining preventative maintenance programs for customers, as well as repairing and replacing equipment including air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems. This position also responds to any emergencies quickly and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Diagnose and Repair HVAC Equipment: Efficiently and effectively troubleshoot and repair commercial air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment.

  • Install and Maintain HVAC Systems: Install, modify, overhaul, repair, and maintain a variety of complex HVAC equipment, including air conditioning units, air handlers, pumps, motors, valves, heating systems, and associated auxiliary and control equipment.

  • Track and Perform Maintenance: Track the performance of routine and preventative maintenance to ensure HVAC systems' availability. Troubleshoot HVAC/R systems with complex problems requiring judgment to locate malfunctions.

  • System Commissioning: Perform system commissioning to ensure proper operation.

  • Administrative Tasks: Complete administrative tasks and document changes as needed.

  • Respond to Service Calls: Quickly and efficiently respond to calls for service and preventative maintenance inspections.

  • Work Habits: Demonstrate good work habits, including punctuality, neat and clean appearance, motivation to meet company and job specifications, and adherence to safety protocols.

  • Safety Compliance: Demonstrate safe work behaviors through actions such as participation in toolbox talks, worksite safety inspections, and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

    REQUIREMENTS

  • Education and Experience**: A high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of HVAC experience are required; preference is for an HVAC Journeyman’s license and EPA universal certification.

  • Driver’s License**: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

  • Organizational Skills**: Excellent organizational and time management skills required.

  • Technical Knowledge**: Basic tool and equipment knowledge required.

  • Physical Requirements**:

  • Ability to walk, bend, climb, sit, and stand.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift 10-25 pounds.

  • Occasional lifting overhead of up to 20 pounds.

  • Ability to use hands and arms to operate basic tools.

  • Must be able to see, hear, and speak within normal ranges with or without aids.

  • Ability to work indoors as well as on construction sites, subject to outdoor environment and temperatures.

  • Ability to navigate rough terrain and climb a ladder.

  • Work Hours: Must be able to work 8 hours per day with overtime as needed and participate in an on-call rotation.
