Job Description
Expectations
This is a short-term position expected to end after 780 hours. This position will be assisting our Environmental Engineer Sr with his workload that peaks in the spring and summer. Mostly helping with plan reviews and inspections.
Skills/qualifications Needed
Engineering degree: Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental
Licensed engineer preferred
Experience in the application of building construction codes
Experience specifically in swimming pools and spas preferred
Office skills as well as inspection skills.
Ability to learn quickly
Answering phones and emails regarding pool and spa plan reviews and inspections
Must be able to communicate and have great customer service
Self motivated and directed
This is a non-merit position with Department of Inspections, Appeals & Licensing.
Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Sanitary, Civil, Chemical, Nuclear, Mechanical, Industrial, Agricultural, Biomedical, or Public Health Engineering
OR
Licensure as a Professional Engineer by the Iowa Board of Engineering Examiners.
