The DPS Academy hiring process includes the following:
Physical Fitness Testing (1.5-mile run, sit-ups, push-ups and sit and reach)
Written Test (grammar, spelling, mathematics, writing, etc.)
Oral Board (interview)
Completion of a Polygraph
Psychological and Medical Evaluations
Extensive Background Investigation

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation and certification from the Department of Public Safety Academy and the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and be at least 18 years old.
